If you’re thinking about becoming a Norwex Consultant, you may be wondering: Does it really matter who I choose as my Norwex sponsor?
For most, not a huge deal. But if you are really wanting to build a meaningful income and business, it may make a difference. Many people naturally join Norwex after attending a Norwex party, through a friend, or because they already have a relationship with that person. And that can absolutely be a wonderful way to begin! It is, by far, the most common route of becoming a Norwex consultant!

But increasingly, people discover Norwex online and do not necessarily have a consultant who they are working with. They may have fallen in love the products, the mission, see the business potential and decide they want to become a Consultant — without already knowing who they want as their sponsor.
If that’s you, I encourage you not to simply click the first “Join Norwex” link you find. Take a little time to choose the person — and the team — you want beside you as you build. I’ve been building my Norwex business for more than 17 years, and one thing I have learned is that a good sponsor doesn’t simply help you enroll. And different personalities resonate with certain people, so finding a good fit there also makes a difference.
A great sponsor helps you learn how to build. A mentor shares resources to give you the track to run on, resources to plug your growing team into… these things can make your journey a bit more smooth. It still comes down to your effort, but it’s always nice when you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, right?
Does Your Norwex Sponsor Matter?
Norwex provides Consultants with corporate tools, programs, training and resources. But your sponsor and your larger team can provide something different: mentorship, community, team retreats and gatherings, practical experience and someone you can actually talk to when you don’t know what to do next.
Your goals also matter. Maybe you’d simply like to earn some extra income while sharing products you already love. Maybe you want a flexible business you can build around your children and family. Or maybe you’re looking at Norwex and thinking:
“I want to build something BIG.”
Those are very different goals — and I believe your mentor should be willing to meet you where you are. When I joined 17 years ago, I knew I wanted to build something significant that would impact many, many lives for the better. These were questions that I asked 17 years ago that served me well.
Here are some questions to ask when choosing a Norwex sponsor.
1. How Will You Help Me During My First 90 Days?
Your first few months can make such a difference. Ask what actually happens after you enroll.
Will someone help you figure out how to announce your business? Will you get ongoing access to support and a roadmap to find your first customers?
Will there be trainings and support to help you book your first parties, and where should you focus (there are SO many shining objects to grab your attention when getting started– you probably want a proven and defined plan to focus on.
A good mentor shouldn’t just give you 100 things to do. They should help you identify the next right moves for the business YOU want to build. You will likely want to have direct access to your Norwex sponsor and mentor. Does he or she have predictable office hours and hold a consistent Q&A time for the team?
2. Will I Have Access to You Personally?
This is an important distinction. Large teams can provide incredible resources, but if you’re specifically choosing a leader because you’d like to learn from that person, ask what access you’ll actually have to them.
Who leads the trainings?
Who answers questions?
Who coaches new Consultants?
Who helps you when you want to grow into leadership?
Is there access to one-on-one support?
There isn’t necessarily one “right” structure, but you should understand what you’re joining.
3. What Training and Resources Will I Receive?
Is there a training website? Recorded trainings? Live trainings? Scripts and verbiage?
Is there solid party training? Recruiting and sponsoring training? A good leadership development path?
How about social-media and online-business strategies? Systems for building and duplicating a team?
You don’t need to use every resource immediately. (In fact, I don’t recommend trying!) But as your business grows, having an established library of training and access to direct support can be incredibly valuable.
4. What Happens If I Don’t Have a Big Social-Media Following?
Please don’t assume you need thousands of followers to build a successful Norwex business.
Ask your potential sponsor how they teach Consultants to find customers both online AND offline. Your business should not depend upon becoming an influencer. Relationships, referrals, parties, follow-up, excellent customer service, community connections and genuine conversations matter more than ever in 2026. People are craving REAL and not wanting more “AI slop”, as my kids call it!
5. How Will You Help Me Find My First Customers and Parties?
“Go tell everyone you know!” isn’t much of a business strategy.
Ask whether your sponsor can teach you:
- How to introduce Norwex naturally
- How to invite without feeling pushy
- How to follow up
- How to serve customers well
- How to generate referrals
- How to book parties
- How to turn one party into additional business
- How to talk about the Consultant opportunity
- How to build relationships rather than simply make transactions
Those are all learnable skills. (I had to learn all of them when I got started! I was so clueless to the ins and outs of this business!)
6. What If I Want to Build a Serious Norwex Business?
This is one of the biggest questions I would ask. Someone who wants a few hundred dollars of additional monthly income may need a completely different strategy from someone who wants to develop leaders and build a significant organization.
If leadership is your goal, ask: Have you personally built leaders?
And, can you teach me how to do what you did?
There is a big difference between knowing how to sell products and knowing how to develop other people.
7. Do You Provide Leadership Development?
If your goal is eventually to build a team, you aren’t simply learning how to sell Norwex. You’re learning how to lead. How to build according to the business compensation plan.
Ask what happens when you sponsor your first Consultant. Who helps you mentor that person? What happens when your team begins growing? Does your organization provide additional support for emerging leaders? Are there duplicable systems you can learn to delegate and automate to build not only financial success, but also time success?
Ideally, the support shouldn’t disappear once you’re no longer “new.”
8. What is Realistically Expected for Me to Do to Build Meaningful Income with Norwex?
Beware of both extremes. I wouldn’t want someone telling me that building a meaningful business requires almost no effort. But I also wouldn’t want someone telling me that I need to sacrifice my family, health or entire life to succeed.
Ask what consistent activity actually looks like. Then decide whether that fits the life and business YOU want to create.
9. Can You Explain the Norwex Compensation Plan Without Promising Me an Income?
A potential sponsor should be willing to help you understand how Consultants are compensated without promising that you’ll earn a particular amount (it would be illegal to make specific income claims) Ask about retail profit, commissions, bonuses, leadership compensation and the activities associated with building different types of Norwex businesses.
Your results will depend upon many factors, including your effort, consistency, skills, customers, team development and individual circumstances. Of course, there are no guaranteed earnings.
10. What Support Will I Have a Year From Now?
This might be one of my favorite questions. Getting started matters.
But what happens when you’re ready for MORE?
What if you decide you want to develop leaders? What if you hit a plateau? What if you need help evaluating your business? What if you want someone experienced to help you determine what needs to change?
Look for a team that can support not only the Consultant you are on Day One — but also the leader you may become. Look for a leader who has consistently been available for his or her team for years if not decades. This leader will likely be available for decades more to come.
So you may be wondering… what Does Mentorship Look Like on my Norwex Team as your Norwex Sponsor and Mentor?
If you’re considering becoming a Norwex Consultant and found this article because you’re researching potential sponsors, let me tell you a little about how I approach mentorship.
I’m Sonya Eckel, a Norwex Silver Senior Vice President Sales Leader and leader of the Planet Green Team. I’ve spent more than 17 years building my Norwex business, developing leaders and mentoring Consultants. We are one of the top four Silver teams globally.
And I don’t believe my job ends when you click “Join.” That’s where our work together begins.
Members of our Planet Green Team have access to resources I’ve spent years developing, including:
- A dedicated team training website
- Extensive recorded Norwex business trainings
- Weekly live training and support calls, generally led by me personally
- Business-building strategies and systems – I am huge on learning to work smarter not harder and not reinventing the wheel
- Party, sales, sponsoring and leadership training
- A large community of Consultants and leaders who share ideas and support one another
- Leadership development as your business grows
- In Person Gathering Opportunities
And when you are personally sponsored by me, you have something else that is particularly important to me: access to me. I offer personal coaching and mentoring opportunities for my personally-sponsored Consultants, and I continue working closely with leaders throughout our organization, with dedicated leader weekly Zooms.
I want to know what YOU want from your business. Maybe that’s earning enough to cover groceries. Maybe it’s paying for a family vacation. Maybe it’s creating meaningful income while staying home with your children.
Or maybe you’re looking at Norwex and thinking:
“I want to see how far I can take this.”
Those goals don’t require identical business plans. My role as a mentor is to help you determine where you want to go and then help you develop the skills, systems, confidence and leadership to move toward it.
Experience Matters — But So Does Experience Developing OTHER People
I’ve been blessed to build a very successful Norwex organization. But if you’re considering me as your sponsor, I don’t think you should choose me simply because of my title.
You’ll want to look at the people I’ve helped develop. Look at our leaders, the longevity of our team, our training and support, and our culture.
I know I’m completely biased, but I think it’s pretty fantastic! 🙂
Because ultimately, you’re not looking for someone who has simply succeeded herself. You’re looking for someone who knows how to help other people succeed.
