Which Norwex Laundry Detergent is best? I’ve been using Norwex laundry products since 2009, and this is a question I get asked a LOT! My slightly annoying answer is… it depends! 🙂

The great news is that Norwex now gives us several different laundry detergent options, which means you can choose the one that works best for your laundry, your washing machine and your lifestyle. Personally, I use and appreciate different ones for different reasons. If I’m dealing with stains, odors or caring for my Norwex microfiber, I LOVE the enzyme power of PowerZyme. If I want something incredibly easy, the Liquid Laundry Detergent may win—2–3 pumps and I’m done! Ultra Power Plus, or UPP, is the longtime (very versatile) Norwex favorite that so many of us have used and loved for years, and the Laundry Detergent Strips are hard to beat for convenience, travel and less packaging.

So rather than giving you just another generic Norwex laundry detergent review, let’s look at each one, what makes it different, and which Norwex laundry detergent might be best for YOU.

Which Norwex Laundry Detergent Is Best?

If cleaning power for stains and odors is your biggest priority, I would choose PowerZyme because of its enzyme cleaning power. It’s a great choice for everyday family laundry, and I especially love it for caring for my Norwex microfiber.

If ease and convenience are most important to you, I would look at the Liquid Laundry Detergent. It also contains enzymes, comes in Unscented or Lavender, takes up almost no space in the laundry room and couldn’t be much easier to use.

If you’re looking for the longtime, tried-and-true Norwex powder, Ultra Power Plus (UPP) is still a very effective choice. It does not contain enzymes, and based on my experience and years of customer and Consultant feedback, many HE users find that a surprisingly small amount works well for them, which can make it a very economical option.

And if convenience, travel and reducing bulky packaging are your biggest priorities, the Norwex Laundry Detergent Strips may be your winner. They’re lightweight, compact and eliminate the need to ship a bottle full of liquid.

So no, I don’t think there is ONE best Norwex laundry detergent for everyone. Here’s a little more about why you might choose each one.

PowerZyme: Best for Stains, Smells + Norwex Cloth Care

If you’re asking which Norwex laundry detergent I consider the most powerful for tackling smells and stains, I’d go with PowerZyme. One of the biggest reasons is the enzymes! I love enzyme cleaning because enzymes help break down the different kinds of soils that show up in real-life laundry—food, body oils, stains, smells and all the lovely things our families bring home. 🙂

PowerZyme is a great choice for everyday family laundry, but I especially love it for caring for my Norwex microfiber, too. If your Norwex cloths are starting to smell, feel stiff or aren’t performing the way they normally do, buildup may be part of the problem, and PowerZyme has become an important part of my updated cloth-care routine.

So if cleaning POWER is my biggest priority—particularly for odors, stains and microfiber—PowerZyme is the one I’d personally reach for first.

Liquid Laundry Detergent: Best for Ease + Convenience

Don’t underestimate the Norwex Liquid Laundry Detergent! It also contains enzymes and is a powerful cleaner, but what I especially love about it is how incredibly EASY it is to use. I typically use 2–3 pumps per load, depending on the load and washing conditions, and I’m done. There’s no measuring powder and no giant detergent jug taking up half of the laundry room. In fact, the bottle takes up barely any space on top of the washer, which I LOVE.

You can also choose between Unscented and Lavender. If you don’t want fragrance, you’ve got an option, but I have to tell you that the Lavender scent is beautiful! I’m pretty particular about scents in my home, and this is one I really enjoy.

If you’re someone who wants the cleaning power of enzymes but simply prefers the ease of a liquid detergent, this one may be your winner. A couple of pumps and the laundry is going. It really doesn’t get much easier than that.

Ultra Power Plus: The Original Norwex Laundry Favorite

Oh, UPP. We’ve been together a LONG time. 🙂 Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent, commonly called UPP, is the original Norwex laundry detergent that many longtime customers and Consultants immediately associate with Norwex. In fact, the original version of this very article was written about UPP!

UPP is still a very effective concentrated laundry detergent, but unlike PowerZyme and the Liquid Laundry Detergent, UPP does not contain enzymes. One of the things I’ve appreciated about it over the years is how economical it can be, particularly in an HE washing machine. Based on my own experience and years of feedback from customers and Consultants, many people with HE machines find that they can use a surprisingly small amount and still get excellent results.

You may need more detergent in a standard washing machine, with a particularly dirty load or if you have very hard water. Because washing machines, water hardness and laundry conditions vary—and product directions can change—I recommend starting with the current package directions and adjusting appropriately for your situation.

If you want the tried-and-true Norwex powder, prefer a detergent without enzymes, or you’re already a longtime UPP fan, there’s certainly no reason you need to abandon something that’s working beautifully for you.

Norwex Laundry Detergent Strips: Best for Convenience, Travel + Less Packaging

Sometimes you don’t want a powder or a bottle of liquid—you just want something EASY. That’s where the Norwex Laundry Detergent Strips really shine. They’re lightweight, compact and convenient, with no bottle of liquid detergent to store or transport.

I especially like the concept from an environmental standpoint because you’re not shipping a big plastic bottle filled with liquid. They’re also a great option for travel, RVs, college kids, small laundry spaces or anyone who simply loves the convenience of grabbing a strip rather than measuring detergent.

If portability, easy storage and less packaging are at the top of your list, the strips may make the most sense for you.

So… Which Norwex Laundry Detergent Should I Choose?

If you want my simplest recommendation, I would choose PowerZyme if you’re looking for powerful enzyme cleaning for everyday laundry, stains, odors and Norwex microfiber. Generally speaking, I have my customers start here. It’s my top-seller currently.

I’d choose the Liquid Laundry Detergent if you want enzyme cleaning with maximum ease, prefer liquid or love the option of that beautiful Lavender scent. I’d choose Ultra Power Plus if you want the longtime Norwex classic, prefer a concentrated powder without enzymes or find that UPP is especially economical in your HE machine. And I’d choose the Laundry Detergent Strips if convenience, portability, travel and less packaging are your biggest priorities.

And you know what? You may end up being like me and appreciate more than one for different situations! There doesn’t have to be one universal winner.

“Love the laundry soap…I bought a new sweatshirt from VonMaur…my fav sweatshirt..fits perfectly. Spent a bit on it. I also have to preserve a couple of my other favorite laundry detergent stories from the original article. One customer raved about how the detergent took the “hog smell” out of her husband’s clothes. Yes… HOG SMELL. If that doesn’t qualify as putting your laundry detergent to the test, I’m not sure what does. 😂

Another customer shared that her uniform was navy blue and had always faded terribly. She was very excited that her experience with Norwex detergent was different and that her navy-blue uniform continued looking “beautiful.”

What Makes Norwex Laundry Detergent Different?

One thing I appreciate about the Norwex laundry line today is that we’re not limited to one format or formula. You can choose between enzyme and non-enzyme options, powder and liquid, or the convenience of strips, depending on what matters most to you.

They’re also concentrated products, and for me the goal isn’t simply to use MORE detergent. It’s to use the right detergent, in the right amount, for the job. That’s especially important with modern HE washing machines, where more detergent isn’t necessarily better.

Can I Use Norwex Laundry Detergent in an HE Washer?

Yes, Norwex has laundry detergent options appropriate for HE machines. Because these detergents are concentrated, I wouldn’t assume that more detergent equals cleaner clothes. Follow the current directions for the specific detergent you’re using and take your washing machine, load size, soil level and water hardness into consideration.

Make sure you’re looking at the directions for the detergent you’re actually using today.

How Much Norwex Laundry Detergent Should I Use?

This is another place where I don’t want you relying on an old blog post—including an old version of THIS blog post! 🙂 Norwex now has multiple detergents, and they do not all use the same amount.

With the Liquid Laundry Detergent, I personally find the pump system incredibly easy and typically use 2–3 pumps per load. With concentrated powders such as UPP and PowerZyme, use the directions for that particular product rather than assuming the measurement for one applies to another. Your washing machine and water hardness can also affect how much you need.

Can I Use Norwex Laundry Detergent on My Norwex Cloths?

Yes! In fact, PowerZyme is currently one of my favorites for Norwex microfiber care because of its enzyme cleaning power.

My basic cloth-care rules are incredibly simple: avoid fabric softener and dryer sheets, don’t use bleach, and avoid washing microfiber with linty loads. Otherwise? Wash them in the washer and dry them in the dryer.

Which Norwex Laundry Detergent Is Best? My Bottom Line

After using Norwex laundry products since 2009, I don’t think there’s one detergent that automatically wins for every household. PowerZyme is my current top choice when cleaning power for stains, smells and microfiber is the priority.

Liquid Laundry Detergent is incredibly appealing when I want powerful enzyme cleaning with maximum ease—and that Lavender option smells beautiful.

Ultra Power Plus is still the tried-and-true, non-enzyme Norwex classic and can be an especially economical choice for some HE users… and also moonlights with some consultant-reported, non-label uses such as diluted in a carpet cleaning machine, diluted as a stainless steel cleaning spray, diluted as a jewelry cleaner… but remember, these are not Norwex-recommended nor label uses, so try those out at your own discretion.

Laundry Detergent Strips are hard to beat when convenience, travel and less packaging matter most.

Ultimately, I think the best Norwex laundry detergent is the one that fits your laundry, your priorities and the way YOU actually like to wash clothes. And after all these years, I love that we now have enough choices to find a great fit rather than pretending one detergent has to be perfect for everyone.
