How Does Norwex Work?

1. Ultra-Fine Microfiber
- Fibers are split into extremely small strands
- To be labeled “microfiber”, the fiber must be at least as small as 1/6 the size of a human hair. Small, right?
- But Norwex fiber is at least as small as 1/200 of a human hair! Now THAT is truly micro! It can mechanically sweep into even microscopic grooves and spaces. This is reason #1 that this cloth removes up to 99% of bacteria from a surface, using JUST WATER.
- This increases surface area and allows cloths to:

- Trap grease

2. Fiber density (amount of fiber in the cloth)

3. Silver Embedded Technology (BacLock®)
BacLock® Norwex cloths include a silver-based agent that:
- Helps inhibit bacterial and mildew odor growth within the fibers
- The microsilver is NOT a coating on the fibers. It is actually embedded into the BacLock® fiber! If you have fiber, you have microsilver as part of the fiber.

- Cloth care – after using the cloth, rinse it under water, scrubbing the cloth against itself. Wring it out tightly and hang it to dry in a well-ventilated spot (over the oven handle, etc). - When it needs to be laundered, wash it in the washer with a low-tox laundry detergent (Norwex has my favorite one!) and dry it in the dryer. Do NOT use fabric softener, laundry beads, or dryer sheets, as the residue will COAT the silver, making it ineffective in doing its job to self-purify the cloth.
Mechanical Cleaning vs. Chemical Cleaning
So, instead of killing germs (like chemical cleaning), Norwex removes contaminants from surfaces mechanically.
I’m a visual learner, so let me paint a picture for you to help you better understand this concept… I know it can be a bit of a brain twister if you’re brand new to this concept.
Imagine you have a big weed in your front yard. You have a couple options- go to the garage and get the weed spray. If you use ENOUGH weed spray, let it SET LONG enough, then by tomorrow, you should have a dead weed, covered in chemical residue.
Option two, grab a little shovel from the garage and REMOVE the weed. Now, you have no dead weed and NO chemical residue left behind.
Chemical cleaning (read the FULL label on a package of disinfectant wipes) means that IF the product is used correctly (ENOUGH product left to set visibly wet for LONG enough – and notice the warnings written for health reasons on the label). IF you follow the product instructions correctly, hopefully the product killed whatever you wanted to kill- and after the contact time, you hypothetically have “dead bodies” and chemical residue left behind.
Mechanical cleaning REMOVES the dirt, grime, bacteria WITHOUT leaving behind “dead bodies” and chemical residue. That is what Norwex microfiber does. It is NOT the water doing the cleaning, it is the high-quality fiber doing the work.
